I began by filling a container with sumi ink. I stripped off my clothing to my underwear. Standing in my underwear I painted a square on my chest. Then I painted my face and hands. I used a wide paintbrush. Next came the line joining my chest and my head. I took off my underwear and I painted my crotch and my hands. I was careful to be sure that each part was sufficiently covered with ink and that my lines were straight. When I was finished painting I stood in a bucket in my studio and washed off the ink with soap and water.
