Using a basic code (A=1, B=2, C=3, etc.) I translated each letter of each word from passage in Ayn Rand’s The Fountainhead into a number. All of the numbers that comprised the spelling of a given word were then added together to give that word a composite number. This produced a string of over 300 numbers corresponding to the passage. I attempted to memorize the number sequence. The piece ended when I could recite the entire sequence without any errors.
