Learning Process II: Trumpet - Reassessment In 750 Pieces
2007
I created a black and white line drawing from a still image taken of Learning Process: Trumpet. I transferred the drawing onto a 48x10 piece of plywood using acrylic paint and ink. This painting was then cut into 750 pieces; one piece for each minute of Learning Process: Trumpet. The vertical cuts were made using a saw with a 1/8 blade and the horizontal cuts were made using a saw with a 1/16 blade, resulting in a loss of wood during each cut. Once the painting was cut into pieces it was reassembled without any visual reference. After all 750 pieces were correctly placed the painting was encased in clear resin.
