My speech was recorded over the course of a single day using a sound activated clip-on microphone. This audio was transcribed into text. The text was then transcribed into individual phonetic characters. I built an interactive light organ which took in sound and converted it into light based on its tone (bass/middle/treble). I spoke each phonetic character out loud into the light organ and recorded the resulting flash using a digital video camera. This produced a set of video clips corresponding to the phonetic characters. Using a video-editing program I plugged the flashes back into the series of phonetic characters in order to create a 4 hour video.
